Posição: Associate JBoss Technical Support Engineer

Your main responsibilities will include working in a multicultural/multilingual technical team, dealing with support requests from enterprise customers via telephone and web. You will also be responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and for keeping your technical and non-technical skills current by attending courses and spending part of your time in personal development. Your main duties will include:

  • gathering information for each issue
  • carrying out the necessary research
  • working with senior team members in order to transfer the problem to them or in order to get advice on how to proceed further and provide solutions to customers
  • incorporating your findings in Red Hat’s Knowledge Base when necessary

The primary responsibilities of the role are:

  • Analyze problems with functioning software deployed on JBoss application server to identify problem areas and recommend corrective action.
  • Use professional concept and exercises judgment within defined procedures.
  • Have an understanding of different Java technologies.
  • Responsibilities include providing Production Technical Support as well as Developer-to-Developer Assistance for the JBoss products.

Job Requirements Technical skills:

  • Basic knowledge in one or several Java EE Application Servers (like JBoss, Tomcat, Weblogic, etc)
  • Prefer experience with and knowledge of one or several Java/Java EE technologies/products such as JMS, Web Services, Servlets/JSP, EJB, JDBC, Hibernate, etc.
  • Good understanding of Linux/Unix and Open Source
  • Conveys information concisely and clearly to all levels of client.
  • Degree preferably in a scientific, technical or Computer Science.
  • Active participation in JBoss Groups and Open Source Projects will be an added advantage

Profile:

  • troubleshooting skills and a passion for problem solving and investigation
  • ability to work well in a team
  • ability to work in process-driven environments as well as in contexts where consultation with colleagues, taking initiative and judgement calls are necessary
  • ability to communicate courteously and effectively with customers, third party vendors and Red Hat associates
  • contributions (not necessarily development) to Open Source community and projects considered an advantage
  • Well developed writing and speaking skills in English
  • Writing and speaking skills in Spanish

Job Requirements

  • 3rd year Degree in a scientific, technical or Computer Science.
  • knowledge of C, C++, or Java
  • knowledge of other programming languages and collaboration tools such as version control systems is an asset
  • ability to learn on the fly is essential as tasks and responsibilities will adapt over the course of employment
  • experience working in an open source environment is an asset but not a requirement.
